"AKONIR UMOLA GHAR, The Creche cum Day Care Centre, JMCH"

Women are more likely than men to bear childcare responsibilities. Lack of childcare is a major barrier to women’s full and equal participation in work. Moreover, early years of life for children are a period of most rapid development and growth. It can also be the period of maximum vulnerability. We have to pay full attention to the early childhood development period. As per guidelines from Govt of India, with the provisions of ‘The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act’, 2017, the crèche facility is mandatory for every establishment employing 50 or more employees.

To fulfil early childhood development, attempt to meet the interests of young children & their parents and honouring Govt. notification, “AKONIR UMOLA GHAR” (অকনিৰ ওমলা ঘৰ), The Creche cum Day Care Centre, JMCH” was established at JMCH campus on 1st June 2023.

Brief Description:

Management: As per discussion taken at the 60th College Council Meeting, the Creche cum Day Care Centre, JMCH is run by a committee with the help of parents of the children and is a non-commercial establishment. The establishment runs as per guidelines provided by “National Minimum Guidelines for Setting Up and Running Creches under Maternity Benefit Act 2017” of Government of India.

Facilities Available:

• Separate spacious room for playing
• Restroom with clean and good quality beds with air-conditioning facility
• Dining room
• Well-equipped kitchen with induction plate, refrigerator, and clean water facility
• Child-friendly toilets and washrooms
• Breastfeeding room
• Office room
• Inverter backup and CCTV surveillance for safety and regular monitoring
• Operational from Monday to Saturday (07:00 AM - 07:00 PM)
• Closed on Sundays and OPD holidays as notified by JMCH authority

Eligibility for Admission:

Children aged 6 months to 10 years from all categories of employees of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) are directly eligible for admission. Additionally, children of employees from establishments within JMCH campus such as Jorhat Cancer Care Centre, SBI, Police Outpost, canteen, etc., or employees of organizations directly or indirectly associated with JMCH like B.Sc. Nursing, Nursing Schools, etc., may be admitted with permission of the management committee.
